Springer's online content available on Korea's top search engine Naver

April 14th, 2010

Springer Science+Business Media's electronic journal and book content from its online platform SpringerLink is now searchable on Naver, the premier Korean search engine and subsidy of NHN Corporation.

Since the agreement between Springer and NHN was signed in July 2009, NHN has added Springer's metadata and has made its contents searchable on Naver. The searchability of the content follows Springer's recent expansion of its academic collaboration with Korean societies. In South Korea, Springer is the most active international science, technology and medicine (STM) publisher, co-publishing 30 Korean society journals.

Springer now has seven editorial and sales offices in Asia, including Tokyo, Seoul, Beijing, Taipei, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and New Delhi. All together, Springer publishes over 200 high-quality scientific journals in English from Asia.

"With the addition of Springer content, users will now be able to easily access valuable information by utilizing Naver's technology. Going forward, we will make the utmost effort to enhance the search experience for users," said Sang Hun Kim, CEO of NHN Corporation.

"By this agreement with NHN, Springer has created a two-way academic communication line in Korea, bringing international academic content to Korea and introducing Korean academic content worldwide as well. Springer's high-quality international academic content is the perfect match for the academic content division of NHN," said Maurice Kwong, Managing Director of Springer Asia.
